This 2.4-mile double-track heavy rail extension connects the existing Earlington Heights station to the Miami Intermodal Center (MIC), enabling seamless passenger connections to Miami International Airport (MIA). The project involved constructing an elevated guideway and a three-level Metrorail station with segmental construction.
The project included the design and installation of operating systems, trackwork, three traction power substations, and comprehensive civil sitework. Additional elements included the construction of new roadways, roadway reconstruction, and systems integration.
The operating systems required the implementation of power distribution, train control, signaling, communication systems, variable message signs, and a system control and data acquisition (SCADA) setup, along with integration at the central control center.
